Boys' Brigade Share-a-Gift

We reported at BBHQ at about 8.30am everyday to get our attendance marked, get the tin cans, and pamphlets before we went off to our respective locations.

During those three days, five men (Xuan Zheng, Timothy, Po Yi, Joshua and I) embarked on a journey that some may regret, while others may enjoy. (Gives that epic look)
~In cinemas soon~

No la, just kidding.
Back to business. Timothy, Xuan Zheng and I went to Ang Mo Kio Hub @ NTUC Xtra while Po Yi and Joshua went to Toa Payoh for the first two days then to somewhere else on the third day.
We had to call the HQ pretty girls, ahem, I mean HQ female primers (they're dead gorgeous.) when we reach our respective venues, after that, we will start to tidy things at the booth up, line up some pamphlets and position the tin cans for donation collection. Almost immediately, people will start donating bags or trolleys full of canned food, rice, instant noodles, cooking oil, biscuits, so there was absolutely no time to slack or look at aunties, however, there was time to eat bread (there was Breadtalk next to us). :)

We worked hard for the entire day, three days to be exact. Despite all that sweating and boot cracking (we wore Full Uniform and our boots suffered the most), people bought us drinks, cakes, bread (yes, from Breadtalk -.- ) , more drinks, fruit juice, sweets, a box of mineral water (we needed that the most), and a couple even bought us dinner (pizza!--on the third day; we don't normally eat for dinner due to the massive amount of work).

We (Timothy, Xuan Zheng and I) called ourselves "The Threesome" and we thought of funny ideas to help with the low number of donations, things like "Putting the Dinosaur phone on the table" (We found this Dinosaur phone in the BBHQ and the primer allowed us to take it) to attract children to donate; "Do the dance", to attract people's attention. "Cut loads of cardboard and write , "Please donate Food and Money". ", I mean I have no idea why XZ did that la, Money was such a weird word to put.

Okay, to the dinosaur phone. We placed it on the table, and I slot this piece of cardboard saying "Have a heart, Share a Gift" so the dino won't look so terrifying. Afterwards, we thought of a prank. (Muahaha)
  1. First, we will attract kids to look at the toy.
  2. Next, I will pick up the phone on the back of the toy to show that the dinosaur is a dino phone.
  3. XZ will then show the price tag of the dinosaur phone to the kids (He found this $199.90 price tag  in the NTUC)
  4. Finally,  observe the kids' reaction. I bet you will laugh like mad.
And we did. After the kids saw the price, they gave that *HOLY* freaked out face and they will run off to their parents to tell them that they saw a dinosaur phone and it costs $199.90 and we started laughing hysterically. I hope the kids will not have the wrong idea that dinosaurs have phones on their backs. :P

Back to the main topic, we will separate all of the items into their respective groups and pack them into boxes, then into the large metal cages. Next, we will push the cages to the loading bay. While waiting for the van collection from HQ to come, we were packed with loads of stuff to arrange and sort out. IT WAS CHAOTIC.

Every time we needed the van, we will call the female primers at HQ and they will send a van to our location. (If you are down and tired, just a call to the female primers and I guarantee that you will work doubly hard after hearing their voices) However, the van will reach us by 3 hours latest or they will not even come. The three of us hated them for being so irresponsible and late. The help that we received were from sec 1 BB boys, and two semi adults (primer and officer). What the heck.

Okay, forget about that, back to fun! We enjoyed making boxes from flatten cardboard (?), (we found this really quick way of cutting tape, just use a pen and pierce it hard), we enjoyed spotting CBs (we will be like, there's one here/ behind you/damn, you just missed it), dancing (yeah), eating lunch in front of the crowd (sorry :P) and we enjoyed helping the public out.

One more thing, XZ came up with this idea to broadcast the donation speech to the public via the broadcasting system in NTUC. Then I did the broadcasting for the three days, and during one broadcast, I made a slight mistake and this girl laughed at me (DAMN). Before the three of us left on the third day, I gave a thank you speech to all the shoppers and NTUC staff for being so helpful. "A big thank you to all NTUC staff and shoppers for supporting this BB Share-a-Gift....". (So thoughtful of me, right?)

BBSG WAS THAT GREAT.

~A big thank you to all people who donated food items and money, and those who treated us drinks and food, and the NTUC staff for being so great and helpful (heard that the NTUC staff at other venues were fierce and GL).
